audio ephemera: an introduction
I like “audio ephemera.”
“All Things Considered” has a recurring segment where they explore interesting sounds based on suggestions from listeners. I’m sure there’s one explaining how the makers of Star Wars got the blasters’ sound by tapping high-tension wires, but I can’t find it.
The bit that struck me today: the way Mos Def chuckles (@ :55) in The Italian Job. I know, it’s weird, but it cracks me up because he’s usually talking when he does it and I don’t know it sounds genuine. (As genuine as it can be since we are talking celluloid.)
