Remember when Volkswagen started in with their storytelling commercials? I think “Milky Way” was first (2000?), but my favourite is definitely “Big Day.”

It was a couple of years before I picked it up, but J. Ralph’s full-length album “The Illusory Movements of Geraldine and Nazu” (iTunes) is pretty great. Opera, classical, and electronic seem strange bedfellows, but in the context of the record they make absolute sense. I love the shuffling and heavy beat in “Mi Ricordo” set against the 2 voices [tenor and soprano?].
