Check it! NFL Network’s chrome is massively improved. Possession indicator and time outs remaining are much easier to understand at a glance. And how about that play clock?
Nicely done.

Diesel! So great.
Palko had a few bright moments last night—most(?) of which managed to coincide with meltdowns on our part—but man alive, he has every right to be annoyed with Bowe. Gotta put your arms out, dude.

Rashard reminding everyone he’s still got it. Keisel doing what he does best. (:

Ooh! Look who redesigned their time-out indicators. Nicely done, ESPN.

There’s no possession-indicator, yet, but that bar (and the MNF chrome in general) is much nicer this year. I like the sized-down/cropped logo next to the short name, too, less mental-matching to be done.

Rashard was on fire! He and Redman were killing it; they were both channeling the Bus tonight.
Confetti and celebrations aside…19 unanswered points? Come on. Yes, they worked the clock in their favor, but that was no good. Can’t do that in 2 weeks, fellas.
HERE WE GO!

Now that’s how you start the last game of the season: a Polamalu pick followed by a huge pass and a Wallace TD. I like it.

12-4! Awesome.

Two things!

I hope Smith can make it into the 1/15 game; I will almost feel sorry for whatever offense has to face a healthy Pittsburgh D. Almost.

As much as I loathe the Ravens (a lot), how pathetic is it the Seahawks and their losing record of 7-9 get to host their play-off game while the 12-4 Ravens have to hit the road? As if I didn’t hate Pete Carroll already

Grr.
As unhappy as I was when we were down 10-6 (yay, Suisham!), I was happy the Ravens weren’t allowed to run roughshod all over us.
Is anyone else sick of how sloppy officiating has gotten in games featuring physical teams? The Ravens managed to pick up more penalties last night (except the two which mattered), but even so, nearly every time the Steelers overcame a 3rd and long bam! false start. Ridiculous.
And HFY to Ben for playing through with a busted-up foot and a broken nose. Heh.

Good thing we’ve got Suisham, now. Good grief.
Last week, the penalty situation was laughable. This week: unacceptable. Kemoeatu had 3 of his very own false starts. 3! The last of which killed a drive likely to end in a TD, but thanks to 3rd & 20+, instead it ended in a FG. Thanks, Chris.
Sure, 8-3, but now we’re heading to Baltimore. The Ravens are 5-0 at home and they’re healthy this season. With half our key players broken, Sunday is going to be rough. Ben has a great record against the Ravens, but his support system hasn’t been this beat up before. Oy.

What, no flag?
163 yards in penalties, the lion’s share of which were bullshit. There might have been more penalized yards on the Steelers than the Raiders had in total offense.
Re: James Harrison’s umpteenth roughing-the-passer penalty which wasn’t.I am all for quarterback-safety. These guys hit and get hit hard, it’s dangerous—especially long-term—precautions should be taken. But when a several-time defensive player of the year, whose style of play hasn’t changed, is suddenly always in the wrong? Suddenly committing infractions that didn’t exist 5 weeks ago? Something is off.
Because if he were a dirty player (he’s not), the correct action to take would be to suspend, then expel him from the league, not fine him week after week after week. Yet, that’s exactly what you’re doing, Goddell. You decided to make Harrison an example in a classically overreaction sort of way. Stop it. If anything you’re worsening the chances useful steps will be taken (and taken seriously) to improve player safety.
Re: Richard Seymour clocking Roethlisberger after getting scored on. Jackass. 10+ years in the league and your excuse is: “I just turned around, and he just ran up on me quick. It was just natural reaction.” Yeah, what a chump for jogging up to his own offensive line to celebrate a TD. Give me a break.

This sucks.
I get it: missing a 26-yarder has very few, if any excuses. But come on. There are, I think, better ways to have handled Reed, the beaten-up defense, and that loss in general.
