Ha! “Psychosomatic” was coined by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. That seems…apropos.

Azureus Rising - Proof of Concept (via Bixby)
(720p, full screen, headphones)
Can that please be a movie? I would totally watch that movie. Okay, the hair is a little distracting (hee, when did Sonic get so tall?) but overall? That is sweet!
(The poorly kerned “UR” in the title made me twitch a little.)
Custom protein bars, shakes, cereals, and cookies?! What? Um, that’s awesome.
Also awesome is the pinned-in-the-corner Nutrtional Facts panel as you build said bar, shake, cereal, or cookie. Throw in another gold star for the “First time building a bar?” primer and recommendations.
(And trail mix!)
Record grooves under an electron microscope (via Coudal)
Those grooves look like dunes! That is so cool.
“A conversation I have every month or so” reminded me to tell you about my most favorite local site: Lost in Seattle.
Hours and contact information for restaurants, bars, businesses…but the best part is the translation of hours relative to the moment you’re looking for it. Sure you can do the math in your head, but that at-a-glance “to go” information is quite nice to have.
When I’m looking for a place, it goes something like this:
[Browser] > Google search box > “lost in seattle [destination] [neighborhood if known]”
9 times out of 10 that gets me exactly what I’m looking for and away I go.
Quatchi and Miga snowboard!
I’m quite taken with the 2010 winter games’ design: the mascots, the logo, and especially that typeface.
One habit leftover from college is taking notes while I read; I can’t help it (although I don’t write in my books, anymore). The habit I’ve lost entirely is listening fast enough to distill a lecture into sensical notes.
A little more halfway through Introduction to Ancient Greek History (via iTunes U), I finally made time to get down notes I’ve been writing in my head as I listen. Just during the 30-minute introduction (!) I had to pause quite often to catch up or replay a few lines.
Also: holy hand cramp, Batman!
Number of times this weekend I tossed my phone at the couch only to watch the still-firm cushions (you’d think maybe after 4 years they’d have squished a bit, but nooo [which isn’t a real complaint; good couch!]) send said phone flying to crash land on the hardwood floors: 5.
Such. a. nerd. (:
You know it’s been a very long day when the screenshot you just took is “Picture 50.png” (you also know I’m not yet running Snow Leopard, but that’s a separate issue).
And…I would be annoyed and frustrated that the bug I estimated at 10 minutes actually took 2.5 hours, except that in the process of fixing it I got to clean up a whole bunch of crufty business in the stylesheet(s). Woo!
Magic Hour (App Store, $3.99) (hat tip to Dave).
I’ve had this app all of…12 hours and I am 100% smitten with it. Look how well all that information is presented! 4 stages of daylight, current stage, and moon visibility in one bar.
Terribly useful for photographers and flat-out excellent for nerds like me who like knowing which phase the moon’s in at a given time (a secondary info panel shows the upcoming phase dates and moonrise times! eeek).
(Like the Clock app, I add cities I’ve visited and very much want to visit besides my current location. (: )
The company I work for has a mission statement in need of and missing (!) the serial comma.
Twitchy.
