20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (via iso50)
Love it. With the ship-like title outline and the propellers? And the art deco type? Please.
This camera by Steven Monteau is called the Guillotine / Adidas Camera and was intended for use shooting ultra-wide action sequences on 120 film.
Okay, that is sweet! Love the stripes on the camera.
“Lords & Ladies” - Wisp
It takes 50 seconds to get up to speed, but once it does: watch out. This is one of my favorite tracks for the treadmill. I may not run that fast (yet?) but most of what I find on “workout playlists” is so slow as to be useless for me.
135bpm and up, yo; anything else is worthless for intervals.
(And not that you asked, but 2:00-2:45 in “Boom Boom Pow”? Sprinting on the bike.)
Boarding Pass/Fail (via ISO50)
I dig the hell out of that initial design — apart from the choice of Titling Gotham for the main info in the center, even here on a big-ish monitor those numbers are more of a strain to read than they should be.
Thermal printing notwithstanding, how cool would it be to have a default boarding pass layout with branding as the differentiating factor? That would be sweet.
I really, really like the practical boarding pass redesign response. Aces! How do we get airlines to adopt it?
Having said that: the Virgin America boarding passes rule as they make excellent bookmarks. And! if you’re the sort who likes to read by sliding something down the page (raising my hand), they’re the perfect width for most paperbacks. (VA being my favorite airline, I’m obviously biased. (: )
I am reasonably sure Alex Roman’s incredible CG work is about to start popping up all over the place. I found my way to his site via ISO50, where Scott gathered a pretty nice selection of images/videos.
Croft might not be convinced they’re all CG, but did say, “If our planet goes straight to hell, we can just make a new one with CG.” Which: seriously. (If I can get that reading spot? Sign me up.)
Slouching towards Bethlehem (via ISO50¹)
How often are the photography nerd and book nerd in me psyched about the same thing? Not often. But: nicely done apocalyptic-ish photos? check; a title culled from my favourite poem? check.
¹ Scott and his few contributors are pretty much always on point. ISO50 is the blog equivalent of those albums you listen to all the way through without skipping songs.
Chemtrail EP (2nd fave: Chemtrail) (via iso50)
Definitely a similar vibe as Scott, but wow. Those colors. Gorgeous.
